Abstract

Calendars represent an indication of the ways in which societies conceived time, and through the analysis of them, we can learn about other aspects of society, such as the relationship between popular and Christian beliefs, social structure and the conception of human life... In artistic calendars, like that of the Santa María do Azougue Church, or literary ones, like that of Libro de Buen Amor, we can see these characteristics, as well as orality (sayings). We can note that both kinds of calendar are very similar in each month to certain classical and later sayings, which also constitute a calendar.
