Ideología y legitimación del poder en la Castilla del siglo XIV. La imagen regia en el Poema de Alfonso XI

Abstract

The objective of this article is the study of the royal image in the Poema de Alfonso XI, written during the life of the monarch. The analysis of this literary creation permits the study of several matters: the peacemaker king; the righteous king; the dialogue between king and kingdom; the crowned king; the warrior king, defender of Christendom; the royal image and the animal symbolism; and Alfonso XI as hero of the feat. The study of these cases shows that ideology is at the service of royal power, with the clear objective of legitimicing it.
