Abstract

The catalan territory has always been a historic path between the other parts of Iberia and Europe. It is not anything to be surprised about that a part of the pilgrims going to Santiago and coming from central and southern Europe crossed the Principality of Catalonia and visited its main sanctuaries (particularly Montserrat and Sant Pere de Rodes) and other worship places in the catalan land. Many travelers bore witness from its way through Catalonia; at the same time it has become clear the political encouragement of the most important catalan municipalities to the worship of St. James.
