URBANISMO UTÓPICO DE LA ILUSTRACIÓN ESPAÑOLA: A PROPÓSITO DE SINAPIA

Abstract

An analysis has been made of the urban and architectural development project SINAPIA. an anonymorrs manuscript from the Spanis Age of Enlighttenment that was written in the ministerial circles headed by Campomanes, in the light of Oriental influence, mainly from China (a parallelism with tire Ising-tiem system of division of territories adopted by Meng-Tse in the IV century B.C.,. mandolic tradition and the christian community ideal. The importance of physiocratism is also present and influences the Iimiting and controlling of urban expansion, coinciding in this way with the Chinse feudal system, althought under different ideological premises. Finally an assessment has been made of the role played by China and the Orient in XVIII century mentahty, both inside and outside of Spain, stressing the importance that is placed in Sinapia on this country when is considered the mother and origin of all Oriental politics and science.
