Contemporary Photography in Murcia: María Manzanera and her photographic creation.
Abstract
This paper examines contemporary photography of Region of Murcia through production of Maria Manzanera between 1970s and 1980s. She is one of women photographers that works in theses decades and she has made notable contributions to photography that has not yet to be studied until now.
Photographic work of Maria Manzanera is characterized by broad and heterogeneous production since she has dozens of projects on varied topics: portraits, macro photography, nudes, flamenco, street photography and nature. In order to analyse her works, they are structured in chronological order, thus it has been explored since her early photographs to recent creations organized by themes.
Despite the fact that her individual creations, they are developed in a certain place and time in which there seems to be few women photographers represented, but Maria. So, the main objective of this paper is to reach an acknowledgment of production of Maria Manzanera and her contributions of photography.
