Abstract

The Cathedral of Almería (Andalusia, Spain) was the first temple of this kind where public worship and devotion tributed to the Blessed Sacrament was founded. This article studies symbolical meanings of this building, appointing to its distinctive characters such as cathedral-fortress and representative space dedicated to Messianic Exaltation of Eucharistic ‘Christ-Sun’ and the Imperial Majesty ́s apology, performed by Franciscan Bishop Diego Fernández de Villalán, promoter of this cathedral.
