Sobre la vida y la obra del artista José María Sánchez Lozano
Abstract
The sculptor named José Sánchez Lozano, 1904-1999, was born between Murcia and Alicante, versatile sculptor, although he knew the work of Dupar, Bussy and Baglietto, he has been mainly identifed as an imaginero follower of Francisco Salzillo and Roque Lopez's School, he inherited from them models and techniques. He started sculpting as a pupil of José Planes, then he got into the Fine Arts Academy both in Madrid, Barcelona and he got employed in Olot where he learnt the art of plaster casts, he got established in Murcia where he become known because of a copy of the well known Dolorosa first made by Salzillo to the Cofradía de Jesús. due to the damages caused to the Sacred Images in the Spanish Civil War, artists were needed to restore the old sculptures and replace others,and so this imaginero become very famous and popular. Because of this work demands he left his youngest infuences and was able to modify his art adding his personal style without denying Salzillo ́s School infuences.Downloads
