Abstract

The article describes the importance of the role of indigenous women in the context of indigenous peoples’ lives and cultures, especially with regard to Arhuaco people in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. The traditional role of indigenous women in Arhuaco context and cosmology is also described, as well as its relevance in the current context. Finally, the article deals with certain aspects connected to the human rights of indigenous women and the impacts that they have suffered due to the violence in their territories and other processes.
