Abstract

The Campo de Lorca in the South-east of Spain (Guadalentin Basin), is an area with one of the greatest hydnc shortage in the Ibenan Peninsula, this is a place where the stmggle for water and the changes in the use of soil are an historical constant. The aim of this paper, is to analyze, from the middle of XIXth century to nowadays, the evolution of the population, the environmental and socioeconomic implications that on the environment have produced the factors of management of two different agricultura] productions models, developed dunng this penod, and the implications that can denve from putting the Comrnunity Agricultura1 Policy into practice.
