Educational health technologies in the leprosy context: a Scoping Review.

Abstract

Objetive: The objective of this research was to map the production of educational health technologies in the leprosy context at the global level. Material and methods: This is a scoping review conducted in accordance with the methodological structures set forth by the Joanna Briggs Institute and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses checklist, extension for Scoping Reviews. Searches were carried out in the following databases: Medline, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, Embase, LILACS and BDENF, in addition to dissertation and these repositories, as well as in Google Scholar to support the review. Results: Twenty-five studies between 2008 and 2024 were included, where the country that produced the most educational technologies aimed at leprosy was Brazil and the main technologies demonstrated were apps. Conclusions: Educational technologies targeted at leprosy have developed significantly, benefiting both health professionals and people affected by the disease. This progress not only improves the patients’ quality of life but is also essential for prevention and awareness raising regarding leprosy.

Cícera Renata Diniz Vieira Silva, Escuela Técnica de Salud de Cajazeiras del Centro de Formación de Profesores de la Universidad Federal de Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brasil.

Nurse with a Master's degree in Public Health from the State University of Paraíba (UEPB) and a PhD in Health Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). She is a full-time lecturer at the Cajazeiras Technical School of Health, at the Teacher Training Center of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG). She teaches in the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Public Health at UEPB and the Professional Master's Degree in Family Health at the Northeast Family Health Training Network (RENASF/Fiocruz). Researcher at the Laboratory of Information and Communication Technologies in Health - LATICS. She promotes research in the areas of Nursing, Collective Health, Primary Health Care, Patient Safety, Evaluation of Health Policies and Programs, Digital Health and Care-Educational Technologies.
