Abstract

This research aims at analysing how the process of institutional transformation of the College of Health Sciences and Behaviour into the School of Health Sciences and Welfare Work was carried out at National University of Mar del Plata, as well as at sustaining a new phase of the atrengthening of the School by means of an analysis of the current reshaping of the institutional culture. The descriptive participatory research is used. The world of study is composed of teachers, graduates and students. Interviews to teachers key informants and self managed surveys aimed at members of the three faculties are analysed. The data obtained were studied through qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis of multidimensional description. A brief history of the school is written. The majority of those surveyed gave a positive opinion about the transformation and they thought that the integration of the three courses of study and of the three faculties had made that transformation possible. They also saw the need to deepen the said integration as a means of solving conflicts. A minority, mainly composed of graduates, did not know about the process. It is remarked the importance of the perception of more independence in the case of three study programs which have historically felt their independence and professional identity lessened.
