Narrating the refugee experience: The Benjaminian concept of experience in "Desierto sonoro" by Valeria Luiselli
Abstract
The purpose of this work is to trace the links between the concept of experience in Walter Benjamin and the narrative of Valeria Luiselli, focusing particularly on Lost Children Archive, a literary work in which two experiences come together: that of the Central American children who migrate illegally to the United States and that of the Apaches who were persecuted in the 19th century by the US army. In this way, the aim is to problematize both the notions of experience and that of narration.
