ARIEL: SHAKESPEARE Y RODÓ. BAJO UN MISMO "ESPÍRITU"
Abstract
La creencia en un “espíritu” compartido y encarnado por William Shakespeare (1564-1616) y por José Enrique Rodó (1871-1917) nos mueve aquí a aventurar un estudio literario comparativo entre sus respectivas obras, La tempestad y Ariel. De un dramaturgo, inglés, del siglo XVI- XVII, a un escritor e intelectual, uruguayo, del siglo XIX- XX, se produce el trasvase de un personaje en forma de “espíritu”: éste es Ariel. Aunque secundario en la obra teatral shakespeariana, Ariel hará ascender desde variadísimas lecturas una escala de significados, y adquirirá con el tiempo y gracias a la literatura desde todos sus frentes una rica y proteica simbología a la que contribuirá Rodó desde otro género.Downloads
