Abstract

Climate change and environmental degradation are unfortunately a global threat. Europe, in a firm resolve to overcome the challenges it poses, advocates a new growth strategy capable of transforming it into a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy, with a threefold objective: to stop producing net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050; economic growth decoupled from resource use; that no person or place is left behind. The achievement of a sustainable economy in the European Union takes, in principle, as a roadmap the European Green Deal, but tries to go further in its aim to be climate neutral in 2050 for which it has proposed a European Climate Law that turns the current political commitment into a legal obligation.
