(CYTOLOGICAL, IMMUNOCYTOCHEMICAL AND ULTRAESTRUCTURAL STUDIES OF THE PARS DISTALIS OF THE KIDS (<i>CAPRA HIRCUS</i>: ACTH CELLS)
Abstract
The estructure and ultraestructure ofd the ACTH cells of the adenohypophyseal pars distalis in kids of the Murciano-granadina breed (18 males and 12 females) has been studied, aged 2-3 months and with an average weight of 8 kg. ACTH cells are a 16-18%. They are localized in the upper middle of the gland, leaving free the vascular or sex zone in sagital section and show and homogeneus distribution in trasversal section. Their average size is 13,84 µm in males and 14,73 µm in females and their morphology is variable, With electron microscopy three cellular types have been found with regard to the distribution and amount of secretory granules, endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi Complex. Type I cells present less granules localized peripherically and a great granular endoplasmic reticulum development; type II cells present more granules distributed all over the cytoplasm and a lower development of granular endoplasmic reticulum; type III cells present intermediate characteristics spherical secretory granules have a mean diameter of 293 nm in males and 318 nm in females.Downloads
