EFFECT OF SOMATOSTATIN ON EXOCRINE PANCREATIC FUNCTION STIMULATED AT SATURATION WITH SECRETIN AND CHOLECISTOKININ
Abstract
It had been made a study to determine the effect of somatostatin at a concentration of 0.250 µg/k/h on the pancrealic exocrine function, stimulated by secretin (4 IU/k/h) and cholescystokinin (0.5 µg/k/h) to saturation. The study is made on dogs and it is determined the total volume, concentration and out-put of bicarbonates, concentration and out-put proteines of pancreatic juices. Two Thomas cannulae are inserted allowing the direct oblaining of the pancreatic juice from the main pancreatic tube.Somatostatin seems to produce a significant inhibition in concentration and output of protein but does not affect other processes.Downloads
