ULTRASTRUCTURAL MODIFICATIONS OF ADENOHYPOPHYSEAL FOLLICULO-STELLATE CELLS AND FOLLICULAR CAVITIES IN GOAT (<i>CAPRA HIRCUS</i>) IN ANOESTRUS, GESTATION AND MILK PRODUCTION
Abstract
The ultrastructural modifications of adenohypophyseal follicullo-stellate cells and follicular cavities have been studied in 15 goats distributed in three groups of five animals in anoestrus, gestation and milk production. Folliculo-stellate cells do not have granules and show a scarce development of cytoplasmic organules; there are cytoplasmatic prolongations arranged between glandular cells and forming follicular cavities. These appear to be closed by microvilli or are sligthly widened. During gestation and milk yield there is an increase in size of cytoplasmic organules, especially in the agranular endoplasmic reticulum and mithocondria, which are mostly fóund in the apical pole of cells when these are delimiting the follicular cavities. In these stages cavities appear to be delimited by a larger number of cells and are clearly widened, showing and heterogeneus and electrodense material.Downloads
