Abstract

Fifteen male Wislar rats weighing 450 g were used to study the usefulness of a method for the permanent implantation of a catheter in the lateral ventricle. This cavity was approached at 0.8 mm posterior and 2 mm lateral, on the left of the bregma. The catheter was inserted 2.2 mm deep to the duramaler and it was glued with cyanoacrylate. Four days after the implantation, it was checked by transcatheteral infusion of methylene blue and ventriculography that the catheters hold on in the site of implantation and were permeable.
