FELINE LEPROSY: TWO CASES REPORT
Abstract
Al the present work we describe two cases of feline leprosy with nodular-ulcerated lesions in the right upper lip in a case and generalized in the other one. Histologically, a granulomatous dermatitis with necrotic areas surrounded by numerous macrophages and epitelioid cells was observed. Thin and long bacilli stained with Ziehl-Neelsen techniques in a beading fashion were found within the cytoplasm of macrophagic cells, as well as in the necrotic areas. A differential diagnosis with cutaneous feline tuberculosis, and cutaneous atypical micobacterial infections was carried out based on histological and immunohistological characteristics. The lesions regressed completely after treatment with tretacicline in a case and clofazimina in the other one.Downloads
