MUSCLE FIBRE TYPES IN BULLFIGHT (<i>BOS TAURUS IBERICUS</i>). AN HISTOCHEMICAL AND MORPHOMETRIC STUDY.
Abstract
By means of the application of histological, histochemical and morphometric techniques we have cha¬racterized the muscle fiber types in several skeletal muscles of the bullfight: digitalis communis extensor, digi¬tal longus extensor, longisimus of torax, latisimus dorsi, ventral serratus of torax, gluteous biceps muscies. In most of the analyzed muscle fibre types were observed: I, IIA, IIB, IIAB and IIC. A scarce oxidative activity has been noticed in all muscle fibre types, specially in types IIA and IIB. This results could be implicated in the lacking in force observed in these species.Downloads
