ADAPTACIONES CARDIORRESPIRATORIAS, MUSCULARES Y METABÓLICAS ASOCIADAS A LA PRÁCTICA DE DISTINTAS DISCIPLINAS ECUESTRES EN EL CABALLO DEPORTIVO
Resumen
El caballo deportivo moderno ha evolucionado desde su función tradicional como animal de trabajo hasta convertirse en un atleta altamente especializado, como consecuencia de la selección genética, el entrenamiento sistematizado y la optimización nutricional. La participación en distintas disciplinas ecuestres implica respuestas fisiológicas específicas que condicionan el rendimiento, la capacidad de recuperación y el bienestar del animal. El objetivo de esta revisión es analizar de forma integrada las adaptaciones cardiorrespiratorias, musculares y metabólicas inducidas por el ejercicio en el caballo deportivo, así como los principales factores que modulan dichas respuestas.
Se realizó una revisión narrativa estructurada de la literatura científica publicada principalmente en los últimos 30 años, utilizando bases de datos internacionales (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science y ScienceDirect). Se incluyeron estudios originales, revisiones y reportes clínicos que evaluaran parámetros fisiológicos, hematológicos, bioquímicos, enzimáticos y hormonales en caballos deportivos sanos sometidos a diferentes modalidades de ejercicio.
Los resultados muestran que el ejercicio induce respuestas agudas caracterizadas por incrementos de la frecuencia cardiaca, la frecuencia respiratoria y la temperatura corporal, necesarios para satisfacer las demandas metabólicas del esfuerzo. Paralelamente, los cambios en parámetros hematológicos y bioquímicos, como hematocrito, hemoglobina, lactato y creatina quinasa, reflejan la intensidad y el tipo de metabolismo energético predominante. Las distintas disciplinas presentan patrones adaptativos diferenciados: el salto se asocia a esfuerzos breves y de alta intensidad, las carreras a respuestas cardiovasculares y hematológicas más pronunciadas, y el raid a alteraciones metabólicas y del equilibrio ácido-base propias del ejercicio prolongado. Estas respuestas están moduladas por factores intrínsecos y extrínsecos.
En conclusión, la monitorización integrada de parámetros fisiológicos y bioquímicos constituye una herramienta fundamental para optimizar el entrenamiento, prevenir lesiones y garantizar el bienestar del caballo deportivo.
