Abstract

During the period between wars (from thefinish ofthe First World War to thefalling of Bilbao, in 1937, in the Spanish Civil War) the Basque press rose to its best. Although the journalism in Basque tanguage on the 19th century, the reception of ideas, genres and journalistic forms ot the Western worid would not be produced until the arriving ofthe fourth communication era, when mass-media appeared. Journals like Argia (1921-1936), of Saint Sebastian, configured the modern Journalism in Basque language. Nevertheless, Ihefirst daily whole written in Basque language would not appear until 1937, during the Civil War, when the first Basque Govern isformed in Bilbao.
