Abstract

The social transformations during the transition from the Ancien Règime to the liberalism were difficult and slow. However, on the contrary, the juridical-administrative ones turned out to be incredibly rapid. This essay deals with this case in the Región of Murcia: the origins of its actual territorial configuration, the internal division of that territory into areas, districts and towns, and the substitution of the constitutional councils for a traditional municipal model.
