Abstract

The Spanish colonial dismantling in its territories of the Pacific area took place as a consequence of the loss of the last overseas colonies of Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines in 1898, when Spain negotiated and sold the Marianas -except Guam-, Carolines and Palaos to Germany in 1899 as an episode of the process of colonial redistribution typical at the end of the XIXth c.
