Abstract

The naval station of Philippines was established at the beginning of the 19th century. It was placed on a very important political and strategical area, surrounded by English, Dutch and Chinese possessions, centre of the jolo-malayan piracy. After the disaster of Cavite, Spain had to cede the Philippine Islands to the United States and to proceed to the abandonment of the installations as well as to repatriate the civil and military establishment.
