Abstract

The First World War altered deeply the commercial international relations. By then, the agriculture murciana there had consolidated a model of economic growth seated in the exterior market. The economic impact of the rivalry is analyzed, from the financial panic to the collapse of the exports, provoked by the submarine blockade and the subsequent lessening of the maritime traffic. The most affected sector was that of the orange, which was giving place to high benefits and which was offering important connections with other economic activities. The study of the markets is revealed fundamentally to understand the international projection of the crisis, to the step that leaves to the overdraft the fragility of the interior transport and the scanty operability of the public negotiations. A peasants’ nourished emigration emphasizes the weakness and dependence of the Mediterranean periphery.
