Abstract

Switzerland appears us during the XIX century as destination of a quite significant Spanish political emigration: refuge for those escaped of the French deposits, encounter place with liberal ideologists, democrats and European federalists that found a model in the Swiss Constitutions of 1848 and 1874. The presence of outstanding Hispanic politicians of this tendencies, mainly of Carlist and existence in the cantons of Vaud and Geneva of a circle filocarlista constituted by Swiss Catholic legitimistas caused situations of tension between the governments from Madrid and Berne. The alpine country also went in passing place to Belgium and the Italian States, in search of collecting human resources and materials on the part of the nationalists of this places.
