Abstract

The establishment of the masculine universal suffrage during the Sexennial and the predominance of the rural electorate in Murcia municipality makes the territorial distribution of the electorate be an extremely important matter when the electoral processes in this period are analysed. The examination of this territorial division is carried out by comparing the distribution made in the initial framework of the provisional legislation in 1868 and that elaborated with the definitive rules consolidated in 1870.
