Abstract

In december 1723 the cardinal Luis Belluga left the bishopric of Cartagena to assume his responsibilities in Rome until his death in february 1743. That resignation was accompanied of an economic agreement with the bishop Tomás José de Montes, successor in Cartagena proposed by Belluga himself. But later Montes denied such agreement in order to protect the Pías Foundations that the cardinal left established in Murcia. Consequently a court case took place until Montes’ death in 1741. Belluga survived two years.
