Abstract

The tide of inmigration has always been a constant historical development in society and urban population. Because of it, we can conclude that we are not dealing with a new phenomenon. However, its current nature is altogether different than historically recorded and demands the participation of all entities to handle the current situation without compromising our democratic values. Inmigration challenges the host society and consequently the educational system. In the light of the results obtained in a research project to describe, analyse and evaluate the kind of solutions presented to cope with cultural diversity, we want to determine the level of integration and the educational reality of North African students registered in the educational system in the region of Murcia. These results will be contrasted with diverse studies made by other regions of Spain which will provide us with an updated picture of the integration of immigrants in our society.
