Abstract

Franco’s government found in the Spanish Protectorate in Morocco, as well as in the rest of the Arab countries, one of the main props in which hold up its foreign policy during the years of international insulation. The Spanish-Arabic association was a constant state kept throughout the Franco’system, being promoted by a cultural policy and carried out by the creation of research centres and cultural institutions in Morocco, Lebanon or Egypt, together with the signing of bilateral cultural treaties with several Araba countries. This policy would meet its maximum expression between 1936 and 1956. The acceptance of the Moroccan certifi cate of secondary education in 1950 by Lebanon and Egypt, as well as the admission of Spain into the UN in 1955, were two of the main achievements reached by this policy.
