FOREIGN RESIDENTS AND IMMIGRANTS IN SPAIN AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XXIST CENTURY: WOMEN’S RELEVANCE. SOME CONSIDERATIONS

Abstract

The foreign residents in Spain have increased a lot during the last decade. Among them, the women have made it with equal it forces. They almost mean the half. There plows few differences, according to the origin countries. Of the main groups, Morocco only constitutes an exceptio, with a more reduced proportion of women. It is not very common this proportion so high of women in a recent and so massive developed migratory process in way. Their degree of work occupation is high, overcomes to 40%, resemblance to that of the Spaniards. However, it is very different their participation in the economics sectors of labor. Of them, the most outstanding, with a lot of advantage on the other ones, is that of the tasks related with the work in the home, domestic services and family help. It is to characteristic that confi rms some of the economics weaknesses of the foundations on those that the immigration process is sustained in Spain.
