Code of ethics

Anales de Derecho follows the work carried out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) to identify principles of transparency and best practices for academic publishing, which serve as the foundation for its ethical code.

1. Website

The journal's website aims to reflect the editorial management activities involved in selecting the best possible manuscripts, avoiding any misleading information for readers and authors. Our website includes a statement of aims and scope, clearly defining the target audience and the main topics of interest. The ISSNs for both print and electronic versions are clearly and accessibly displayed in the website header.

2. Journal Name

Anales de Derecho is a unique and widely recognized name within the international scientific community, ensuring no confusion with any other journal.

3. Peer Review Process

The journal employs a double-blind peer review system, following standard procedures for serial scientific publications. Each article submitted to the doctrine section is reviewed by two evaluators, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers. This process is clearly described on the website and in the manuscript submission process, and at no point are short review or editing times guaranteed.

4. Ownership and Management

The intellectual property rights of the published content belong to the Publishing Service of the University of Murcia, as indicated in the submissions section of the journal's website.

5. Governing Body

Anales de Derecho has an editorial team, consisting of an Editorial Board (editorial committee), an Editorial Council (scientific committee), and a Scientific Committee (reviewer team) made up of nationally and internationally recognized experts in the journal’s areas of focus. Efforts are made to ensure a gender-balanced distribution within the governing bodies and to promote their internationalization. The names and affiliations of the journal's editors, along with the journal's contact address, are provided.

6. Copyright and Licensing

The copyright policy is clearly outlined in the author guidelines and the open access policy of the journal. The copyright holder is identified in all published articles. This document explicitly states that authors may deposit final accepted versions or copies of published articles in third-party repositories, in line with the Open Science Principles.

7. Author Fees

Anales de Derecho is a "diamond" open-access journal that does not charge fees for manuscript submission or publication (NO-APC), nor does it require any subscription fee to access its content. The journal is firmly committed to the Open Science paradigm and has signed the "Manifesto on Open Science as a Global Public Good: Non-Commercial Open Access" adopted at the 2023 Toluca Summit.

8. Identification and Handling of Research Misconduct Allegations

The editorial committee will take all reasonable measures to identify and prevent the publication of research misconduct, including plagiarism, citation manipulation, falsification/fabrication of data, and the inappropriate use of Artificial Intelligence in manuscript preparation, among others. If the committee becomes aware of any allegation of research misconduct related to a published article, the COPE guidelines will be applied to handle the claims and to assess whether to reject the manuscript or retract a previously published article if necessary.

9. Datasets

As part of its commitment to Open Science, Anales de Derecho supports the deposit of research datasets, recognizing their value and the importance of sharing and reusing them. The journal has created a collection in DIGITUM, the institutional repository of the University of Murcia, for storing research datasets linked to published articles. Authors may also deposit this information in other general or subject-specific repositories.

10. Publication Schedule

Anales de Derecho clearly informs about its annual publication frequency in an "open issue" format.

11. Access

All journal content is freely and openly accessible at no cost.

12. Archiving

All journals published by the University of Murcia are hosted in the DIGITUM institutional repository to ensure digital preservation.

13. Sources of Income

The only source of income for Anales de Derecho is a grant from the Faculty of Law of the University of Murcia to cover layout costs. The journal’s website is provided by the University’s Publishing Service.

14. Advertising

Anales de Derecho promotes the opening and closing of each issue through major thematic distribution lists in the field of legal publications. It also has profiles on LinkedIn to share published articles.
