Abstract

In an age when religions struggle to reaffirm their role and current extent in the World, the necessity of protecting both religious freedom and freedom of expression becomes once again a must. Taking into account that religious feelings (even those not belonging to the mainstream and doctrine and, thus, developing a more peripheral function) have been included through interpretation inside the field of protection for religious freedom, these above-cited feelings have enjoyed the display of action from both international supervising entities and judicial and administrative governing bodies at a national level. However, and considering the obtained results and the ever-growing tension between freedom of expression and religious feelings, it is essential to propose some changes related to the point of view. By distinguishing religious freedom and religious feelings, it is compulsory to search different means to protect both of them while exercising freedom of expression. Therefore, it always seems more accurate to do that as far away as possible from judicial means and administrative sanctions, especially when it comes to religious feelings.
