Abstract

The present article shows a review and assessment of the secondary sources of data available to measure anti-Gypsyism at European level. Based on these sources, it proposed an anti-Gypsyism system of indicators organized into three key dimensions: 1st) rejection attitudes towards the Roma population, 2nd) discrimination reported by the Roma population in different social contexts, and 3rd) social exclusion of the Roma population in different aspects of their living standards. The results indicate the existence of paradoxes and inconsistencies between the three dimensions. We point out the need for significant improvement in the tools for measuring prejudice, discrimination and social exclusion towards the Roma population, but also to advance in the analysis of current mechanisms of domination that foster the naturalization of social inequality.
