General policy
RELIS is a biannual scientific journal (published in january and july) that adheres to good practices in gender equality and promotes the use of inclusive language in all published articles.
The journal operates under a rigorous double-blind peer review system and does not levy Article Processing Charges (APCs). The process is, therefore, free of charge for both the evaluation and publication of articles.
All submitted works must be original and unpublished and must not be simultaneously under consideration by any other publication. By submitting, authors accept this condition and assume the legal and ethical responsibilities derived therefrom.
RELIS exclusively publishes articles presenting empirical research results focused on socio-educational research in different contexts.
General submission conditions
- Number of authors: The maximum number of authors permitted per article is four.
- Languages: Manuscripts are accepted in Spanish and English.
- Length: Articles should have an approximate total length of 6,000 words (including title, abstract, references, and appendices).
- Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in a Microsoft Word-compatible format (.doc or .docx), strictly following the guidelines provided in the style sheet.
- Style and citations: The writing and formatting of citations and references must adhere to the guidelines of the seventh edition of the American Psychological Association (APA). See: http://www.apastyle.org/
Manuscript submission process
To collaborate with the journal RELIS, authors must follow the steps outlined below:
- Platform registration: The corresponding author must register on the journal's website. To do so, access "Registration" (if a new user) or "Login" (if already registered) and complete the required information in the form.
- Metadata completion (Mandatory): During the submission process, you must indicate all authors of the article in the exact order they wish them to appear in the publication. One author must be designated as the "Principal Contact for Editorial Correspondence." The order established in this step will be final.
- Reviewer suggestions (Optional): In "Step 1" of the submission, in the "Comments for the Editor" section, authors may suggest two potential reviewers. For each, they must provide: full name, professional category, institutional affiliation, and email address. The Editorial Committee is not obligated to accept these suggestions but will take them into consideration.
- Article submission: The article file must be uploaded in the corresponding step. It is mandatory to use the template (STYLE SHEET) available on the journal's website. Manuscripts that do not conform to this template will be rejected during the pre-evaluation phase.
Editorial and review process
- Pre-evaluation: Submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial review to verify compliance with formal guidelines and suitability to the journal's thematic scope.
- Peer review: Manuscripts that pass the pre-evaluation are sent for review. To ensure confidentiality, the Editorial Team removes any identifying information from the manuscript. Subsequently, at least two external reviewers are selected based on their thematic affinity. The review process is double-blind, anonymous, and transparent in both directions. In the event of significant discrepancies between reviewers, a third reviewer's opinion will be sought.
- Communication of results:
- Acknowledgement of receipt: Within a maximum of two weeks of receipt, the corresponding author will receive a confirmation notice.
- Editorial decision: Within approximately four months, the author will be informed of the editorial decision (acceptance, request for revisions, or rejection). This notification will be sent from the Secretariat of the Editorial Team and will include the rationale behind the decision.
The four-month timeframe is an estimate, as it may vary depending on the workload and the availability of reviewers. Authors may check the status of their manuscript on the platform at any time but must wait to receive the official notification before proceeding with any requested changes.
Author responsibilities and good practices
- Authors should review works previously published in RELIS, considering the possibility of including references to them in their submissions.
- Registered authors will periodically receive notifications with the tables of contents of newly published issues.
- Authors are strongly encouraged to cite articles published in RELIS in their future research and publications, thereby contributing to the development of the scientific community and increasing the journal's impact factor.
- Authors undertake to follow the guidelines of the style sheet and APA 7th ed. standards for the correct preparation of their manuscripts.
