Abstract

This paper analyses the way Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) influence the creation of a new kind of society, called informational society and, concretely, the impact they have had in educational changes and in the growing tendency to use e-learning. Main challenges ICT present to universities are the training of new professionals in new jobs and long-life learning. The introduction of ICT outlines a completely new educational paradigm, which may bring us many advantages, but we must consider that the keys for the changes in educational methodology will lie in the way we will use these new technologies. The author foresees that, in the first years we will tend to converge presential and virtual education, but, after this, we will tend more and more to the virtual education. This paper also analyses, social factors that affect, positively and negatively, the use of New Technologies in University.
