Abstract

The royal chancery suffered a specialization process under the kingdom of Henry II of Castile in order to resolve the public issues which were increasing more quickly. By means of the legal regulations of Toro (1371) and Burgos (1374), Henry II legislated everything regarding the chancery, such as its staff, kind of documents and authenticity symbols. That period meant the end of the medieval stage of the Castilian chancery and the beginning of the modern period.
