Abstract

This article is a look across the history of the town of Alquerias, from the Roman age, going through the Muslim presence to the conquer of Murcia by Castile. Alquirías is distinguished by being in a troubled region, first because of the Muslim and Christian raids in the Reconquered context and second because the region became the border area between Castile and Aragon. The nearness between both kingdoms meant the collaboration in the war against the Muslim kingdoms. However, tensions and wars between them appeared soon, where Alquerias was completely immerse.
