Abstract

The text is the epilogue of the book Quand les femmes témoignent: histoire orale, histoire des femmes, mémoire des femmes edited by Geneviève Dermenjian and Françoise Thébaud. The book is the collection of papers presented at a Conference held in Avignon with the theme «Women’s History». The epilogue stresses the consolidation of the oral sources during the last decade and the richness of the different methodological approaches, like the comparison between oral and written sources, the complementary use of statistics and the common roots in different countries that allowed the emergence of oral sources once it was possible to record the human voices. May be the strongest criticism is reserved to some papers that do not go deep enourgh in the analysis of what has been collected orally.
