Keywords:
Javiera Carrera, Chilean independence, political struggle, gender, male-centered historiographyAbstract
This research examines the ideas and political actions of Javiera Carrera, active participant in the Chilean independence. Through the study of her correspondence during the years 1810-1822, this study problematizes representations of authority, political struggle, privileges, public space, exile, among other topics, in order to interpret a corpus who supports a socio-political imagination of a woman neglected by Chilean historiography, therefore this work also discusses the historiographical discourse that underestimates the role of women in the Chilean struggle for independence.Downloads
