Abstract

This article analyzes indigenous and peasant women role in organization processes in Ecuadorian Sierra during first half of XXth century. These pages also emphasize the symbolic aspects that sustained women’s action and demands – basically, education and land. At the final section, the document tries to explain the lack of articulation of a gender discourse in these dynamics – in spite of women’s importance in organization processes.
