Abstract

After analyzing the myths and euphemisms of discourses on globalization, its use in feminine magazines as a term of status to glamourize the physical construction of women’s bodies, especially those of models, which in turn serves for the marketing of all kinds of beauty products and services. The effects of globalization in the use of the concept of gender is discussed, pointing to the importance of the concept of the body and sexuality as historical constructs, on the basis of a text by Joan Scott.
