Abstract

Landslides are natural processes which mainly affect slope and cliff hillsides on the whole Ricote Valley. The danger of these hillsides lies in the effects of surface runoffs or seismic movements, the easy rolling detached blocks. The urban planning becomes a risk factor as it turns soils that should remain out of any developing process —due to its proximity to the foot of the hillside— into building and urban lands. This is the situation in Archena and its surrounding area at the hill of the Ope.
