Abstract

The Head of the Jara is one of the Betic reliefs of greater height in the southwest of Murcia. Its height (1247 m) and location make it an island of moisture and vegetation, this vantage point in the mountainous border Murcia-Almeria. The abundance of espartizales at its base, with rainfed crops and irrigation, both in hills and in valley, we must unite the predominance of Mount junipers, Lentiscos, myrtles and oak, and especially rockrose. In this vegetation appear cottages, some restored for rural tourism, hunting use of the footprints of existing fauna, and all thanks to a wide range of techniques for water use.
