Abstract

Guatemala is a country which maintains strong contrasts, mainly in the social and the economic field. Moreover, it suffers from deep territorial unbalances in those fields. Notwithstanding, and together with structural factors, economic reason have falled upon an increasing poverty level, which can be considered in different, parameters: public health (infraestructure and children´s undernourihment), education (infraestructure and educative levels), and basic infraestructures and services (acommodation, water and electricity supply, drainages, transport and communications). Finally, it is quite useful to check how these parameters are reflected in a map, where priority areas with high poverty level can be delimited.
