Abstract

In Canarian Archipelage the diversity of agricultural landscapes gives to these inlands, however their small size, an enormous and singular farming and animal husbandry wealth. But major agricultural changes in the Canary Islands —which have hapenned also in its overall economy— ocurred during the recent thirty years have transformed traditional agricultural landscapes (in a negative way through abandonment and in a positive one with the introduction of new farming and animal husbandry practices). Given the ever-dynamic evolution process of agricultural landscapes, this article proposes a classification and analysis of their present state, introducing explanations about their traditional spatial organization when needed.
