Abstract

A method to perform hydrogeomorphologica1 studies of river basins is presented. The method was applied to the Quequén river basin located in the Buenos Aires province, Argentina. The study area (9.370 km2) is caracterized by agricultura1 and cattle breeding activities. The zone is a low flat alluvial surface within the temperate climate. Superficial running off the Quequén Grande river basin was made throught satellitaries images and field trips carried out in the area. Hydrological characteristics of the landforms, fluvial processes and channel characteristics were defined. Relationships between physical and anthropogenous factors were identified and analyzed.
