EL ESTUDIO DE LAS INUNDACIONES HISTÓRICAS DESDE UN ENFOQUE CONTEXTUAL. UNA APLICACIÓN A LA CIUDAD DE GIRONA
Abstract
This article emphasizes a contextual approach as a new framework for studying historical floods. This approach stems from geographical enquiry on natural hazards which began about fifty years ago in the USA, and gives a special relevante to the human and social dimensions of the flood hazard (spacially and temporally situated) as well as to the physical dimensions of floods. The first part of the article describes levels of analysis and components of the flood hazard from a contextual point of view. In the second part we apply the contextual model to floods in the city of Girona.Downloads
