STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS IN THE SPANISH DAIRY INDUSTRY IN THE NINETIES
Abstract
This study analyses current problems in the Spanish dairy industry. In spite of being one of the biggest industries in the food and agriculture sector in Spain, with a tumover of nearly one billion pesetas in 1996, it is undergoing a severe crisis as a result of its lack of organised structure from point of production to commercialisation. Heavy debts, industrial small-leve1 producers, subsidies from various authorities and the aggressive participation of multinational capital are some of the structural features that this sector presents.Downloads
